If you have an eotech on a gun and you leave the batteries in, don't leave it in the back of your safe for a year or you might find that the batteries have leaked and damaged the battery compartment. Alkalines have a nasty reputation for leaking (i've yet to have a lithium leak on me and lithiums are far more resistant to cold weather) Do a search here and in the archives, you might be surprised at how many my eotech died 'cause my alkaline batteries leaked threads you discover. I was lately a duracell fan, but over the past several years i began noticing that batteries left in my equipment would begin leaking crystal battery meth and the pattern seemed to start centering on duracell What is really disturbing is that this would invariably happen years before the expired date stamp shown on the battery which i now consider completely bogus Here is the latest example.

There were issues with eotechs some years ago (2007/8/9ish), especially older ones that had problems with the battery compartments causing batteries to burst, leak, or otherwise lose power The eotech 553s socom initially bought had this problem as well, but has since been corrected. Lol, yep that's normal operation for my eotech too I just pop the battery compartment lever open and leave it on the optic but not making electrical contact and that's solved the problem for me
I will say that i have had a lot of batteries (duracell, energizer both) lately that have been leaking. Eotech 552 battery leak help!!! The battery manufacturer may cover it They replaced a couple of maglites when the batteries leaked inside
